X200: Why does my X200 Thermo-Hygrometer still show a smiling smiley at 70% relative humidity?

image

Neutral smiley: Whenever the humidity is between 20% and 39%
Sad smiley: Whenever the humidity is above 70%
Laughing smiley: ONLY when the temperature is between 20°C and 25°C AND the humidity is between 40% and 70%.
If the temperature is higher or lower (e.g. 19.5°C), but the humidity is between 40% and 70%, the comfort factor is not bad, but also not optimal, so no smiley is displayed.

X200: Why does the X200 Thermo-Hygrometer show a different value than my humidifier?

The placement of the hygrometer is crucial. Humidity is given as a relative percentage, as the air can "absorb" more or less water relative to the temperature. This means that the same amount of water in the air results in a higher relative humidity at low temperatures than at high temperatures. As warmer air rises, a higher placed hygrometer can indicate a lower relative humidity than a device placed on the floor. The same can happen if one sensor is placed in the sun and the other sensor in the shade, or one near a heater and the other on a cool exterior wall.
